Snap Art 4 Review
When you first open up Snap Art 4 it looks a lot like any one of dozens of filter programs on the market but that really isn’t what Snap Art really is. The interface is so simple that a complete novice can use it successfully but offers enough control that a seasoned editor could lose all track of time playing with the fine detail control offered by the program.
The graphic menu of styles makes it easy to find the style you wish to work with quickly. Each style includes several preset options as well to find a starting point easily. Like any art, you’ll find you don’t care for some styles but love others. Personally, I don’t care for the crayon style because it has a bit of a plastic look to it when applied thickly. Others will love this effect though.
The detailed controls for each section are powerful and easy to use. The canvas menu allows you to select from over a dozen textured surfaces as well.
The lighting controls are particularly powerful and allow an unprecedented amount of control quickly.
Masking is one of the features that really makes Snap Art 4 a joy to work with. Masks can be created to add or subtract detail from certain regions of the photo. This lets photographers customize the result quickly and easily.
When using the Snap Art 4 as a plug in there is the added bonus of the effect being created as a new layer. This adds even more control with layer blending styles.
